Our action project is:

1. Promote organizations that help stop high school dropouts, and spread the word that any students thinking about dropping out of high school shouldn’t.

2. Promote and help inform people of organizations that give finicial aid to students going to college (like The Kalamazoo Promise), and inform peopole of the issue of rising college tution that should be stopped.

3. Help stop illiteracy in America by promoting programs that help children learn how to read.

The Drop-out Affect

More than nine out of ten jobs in the United States now require a high school or college education. If a student were to drop out of high school, you would most likely find them ten years later working overtime in a McDonald’s or a hot dog stand. In this blog, I will tell you how dropping out of high school can affect your whole life, and your children’s life, and their children.

Imagine a sixteen-year-old student in a high school in Detroit. His parents are never home, and he is getting terrible grades. One day, after receiving a long lecture by a teacher, he just decided to quit school for a day, then another day,  then another. After a while he just stays with his friends on the streets and eats out of his fridge every once in a while. Twenty years later, he is still on the street, and his son cannot go to a good school. Everyone stays hungry and his family lives in a cardboard box. His son will never go to school.

This is what I like to call the drop out affect. You can see how destructive this can become over time. This is why students must stop quiting school.
